Heroic Viticulture<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

We grow our vineyards in the heart of Valdobbiadene, about 70km far from Venice and 100km far from the Dolomites. For centuries farmers have been shaping these impervious hills. Wine-growing in these lands is much different from the viticulture in the plain. On the steep slopes of our hills, every operation is performed manually. On average, it requires yearly up to 600-800 hours of work per hectare, compared with about 95 hours on the level ground.<\/p>\n

Starting from the 2022 harvest, the grapes harvested in our estate vineyards have the certification of the National Integrated Production Quality System (SQNPI).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Old Vines<\/h2>\n

In our estates, there are over 300 vineyards that were planted around a century ago. They are still healthy and strong and every year they keep producing marvellous fruit. Their genes are so special that part of them are now used to create grafts on young plants. Microclimate and Soil<\/h2>\n

Microclimate<\/strong>.\u00a0Our hills can benefit from a mild climate thanks to their position between the sea and the Prealps. There is a constant breeze, that helps the grapes to dry quickly after the rain. Furthermore, the slope of the hills ensures that rainfall is well drained. We grow our vineyards at an altitude between 200 and 400 m a.s.l. The difference between day- and night-time temperatures allows the aromas to develop well in the grapes.<\/p>\n

Soil<\/strong>. There is a wide variety of soils, within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Denomination. Each of them contributes to give the grapes peculiar features. Rive and Cartizze<\/h2>\n

Rive<\/strong> is the local name for the most precipitous hillsides of the area. There are 43 \u2018Rive\u2019 across the DOCG. These \u2018cru\u2019 subzones have been created to recognize the superior quality of grapes from the appellation\u2019s steepest slopes. Each Rive vineyard area is situated in a single town and has unique features. To create his Rive, Francesco Drusian has chosen the vineyard of Santo Stefano, a small village close to Valdobbiadene, on the top of the hill. Cartizze<\/strong> is a 107-ha subzone near Valdobbiadene, which is considered the top of the DOCG\u2019s quality pyramid. This tiny, unique area in the world is divided among 140 producers and Francesco Drusian grows 3,5 hectares, a true treasure.
